Missouri Basketweavers Guild, Inc.

Missouri Basketweavers Guild, Inc. is dedicated to stimulating interest and to perpetuating the historic art of basketry while providing an outlet for making new friends, sharing ideas, talents and experiences.  Each member shares a common thread – or “spoke” if you will – in their enthusiasm and passion for basketry. Together, guild members supply information on materials, education, marketing and history specific to the needs of basket makers.

Annual Convention

Missouri Basketweavers Guild Annual Convention is held annually during the last weekend in July or the first or second weekend in August in the state of Missouri. Activities begin on Thursday and conclude on Sunday. Members can attend a few days or all days. Attendees can choose classes from a variety of baskets from beginner to advanced skill levels. Students have the opportunity to learn new techniques and to weave new and exciting baskets. Everyone leaves the convention with several new baskets and new friends from around Missouri and across the country.
The convention provides a time for members to participate in market place and shop with vendors. Attendees can purchase baskets and basket related items, and participate in a silent auction comprised of donated basket related items of all kinds. On Saturday evening members attend the Awards Night activities. During this time the Roger Curry Scholarships, Founding Members Memorial and other special recognitions and scholarships are given. Exhibit awards are announced. The Traveling Basket drawing and Basket Swap are completed. A brief general business may be included to elect new officers, vote on any proposed by-law changes or address Guild issues.
If you are interested in joining the Missouri Basketweavers Guild and attending our convention, please see membership and annual convention information. We look forward to weaving together and sharing our love for baskets.
